Award of Excellence: Great Lakes Valley Conference: Southern Indiana

爱的交换When Sam Archuleta, son of Southern Indiana’s head baseball coach Tracy Archuleta, was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia, the baseball team knew it had to help. FA is a degenerative neuromuscular disorder that affects 1 in 50,000 people in the United States. With their coach’s guidance, the Southern Indiana baseball players hosted their second annual #CureFA exhibition game this past season. This exhibition game, that features a Division I opponent, raises money and awareness for Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance. The alliance supports research that helps to eliminate symptoms and improve the quality and length of life for those diagnosed with FA. Nearly 3,000 people came to watch the game. Ticket sales and local sponsorships helped Southern Indiana raise over $35,000.
